Join on Telegram As Typhoon Man-yi speeds to Tokyo on Monday after hitting Japan, four people have gone missing and at least 65 others have been injured.
Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that four people were missing and at least 65 others injured, while more than 860 houses have been flooded.
Local authorities issued evacuation orders for 400,000 residences in Kyoto, Shiga, Hyogo and Mie.
The Kyoto government requested that the Self-Defense Forces deploy troops to join efforts against floods. The typhoon was expected to hit northeast Japan, including the Fukushima area, on Monday, bringing heavy rain near the crippled nuclear power plant.
NHK said airlines have cancelled or plan to cancel more than 500 domestic flights. Railway companies have partially suspended services after wind speeds exceeded the safety limit.
