CAIRO– There was no immediate comment from the military establishment regarding the recordingay
In a leaked audio recording, Egyptian army chief and Defense Minister Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi recalls telling late president Anwar Sadat in a dream that he too would one day become president of Egypt.
“When I was talking to Sadat (in the dream) he told me he had known he would become president,” al-Sisi purportedly says in the leaked recording aired late Wednesday by the Ahrarr25 and al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr television channels.
“I told him that I also knew I would be a president,” al-Sisi, widely perceived as the chief architect of the army’s July 3 ouster of elected president Mohamed Morsi, recalls in the purported recording.
Anadolu Agency could not independently verify the authenticity of the leaked recording.
There was no immediate comment from the military establishment regarding the recording.
The Rassd news network had earlier released several audio recordings of comments said to have been made by al-Sisi during an October interview with the Egyptian daily Al-Masry al-Youm.
All comments allegedly attributed to al-Sisi in these recordings did not appear in the published interview.
