Rabat – Morocco international Nayef Aguerd could be on his way out of Olympique de Marseille this summer, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window’s closing weeks.
According to information from the French newspaper La Provence, reported by Ouest-France, Aguerd’s future has once again become a topic of discussion within the French club, despite joining Marseille from West Ham United last summer in a deal worth around €23 million.
The report states that the 30-year-old defender struggled with a groin injury last season, limiting his playing time and preventing him from establishing himself as a regular starter.
Aguerd has since attracted interest from several clubs in the Gulf region, which are closely following his situation and could make a move before the end of the summer transfer window.
Although the Moroccan center-back remains under contract with Marseille until June 2030, reports indicate that his deal includes a release clause of approximately €15 million. The clause could make a transfer more feasible if a suitable offer arrives.
La Provence added that a departure may benefit both parties. Aguerd would have the opportunity to secure regular playing time after an injury-disrupted campaign, while Marseille could reduce its wage bill and recover part of the investment made to sign the defender last year.
The coming weeks are expected to be decisive as interest in Aguerd continues to grow and Marseille weighs its options for the remainder of the transfer window.
