Tinejdad, Morocco- With a committed responsibility to create new jobs through business expansion and business enlisting, the Winter Haven Economic Development Council (WHEDC) aims tofoster exhaustive and sustainable development that addresses the needs of the growing economy and population of Winter Haven, Florida area.
The organizationis devoted to strengthening and promoting business in Winter Haven, encouraging businessmen to invest in the region.
In order for any economic development project to be successful, dedicated leadership is needed to shape a common vision and successfully engage stakeholders.
Last year, the WHEDC hired Mr. Bruce Lyon, an energetic and experienced businessman, as its new executive director.
According to Mr. Lyon, “The Winter Haven Economic Development Council is one of the first of its kind in Central Florida to aggressively pursue sustainable economic development and domestic and international trade that will strengthen Winter Haven locally, regionally, and globally.”
The WHEDC stated in its 2014 marketing materials that “our Super Region is the 10th largest regional economy in the United States, and if we were our own country, we would have the 36th largest economy in the world, surpassing the nations of Singapore, Chile, and Israel.”
The Winter Haven Council is not only based in Florida. It is an international organization, “exploring relationships and partnerships with people and businesses on six continents”. It is open to the world’s entrepreneurs who are seeking to expand their business in Winter Haven.
“The Winter Haven Economic Development Council takes pride in bringing international business opportunities to our authentic and beautiful central Florida location. We invite you to expand your possibilities and your connections here in Winter Haven,” Lyon said.
In addition to expanding opportunities for existing businesses, the Winter Haven Economic Development Council is also committed to developing young leaders from within the community.
To help students sharpen their skills and make practical and real connections inthe world of business, the WHEDC Executive Director Bruce Lyon and Dr. Eileen Holden, President of Polk State College, signed in April an agreement that, according to Lyon, will “help students make tangible relationships with the local business community.”
LEGOLAND is an integral part of economic growth in Winter Haven. Tourism is a major industry in Central Florida, and LEGOLAND’s opening in 2011 helped Winter Haven gain ground in this sector.
The area has welcomed LEGOLAND with open arms and has continued to encourage growth for the theme park, including an upcoming LEGOLAND hotel.
As Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND General Manager and Vice President of Merlin Entertainments Inc., USA, stated, “Winter Haven…is extremely business-friendly and job creation is a major priority with numerous initiatives to support business needs.”
