Rabat – Cheb Khaled, the king of Rai, has hailed Morocco and King Mohammed VI in a press conference held on Sunday, on the sidelines of the ninth annual Rai Festival of Oujda.
Cheb Khaled stated that “Morocco is experiencing a real revolution at all levels, to the point that His Majesty the King may God glorify him, became the best king in the world.”
“May God prolong his life and protect him for all Moroccans and the Maghreb region,” Cheb Khaled added.
The King of Rai received a standing ovation from all journalists attending the press conference, in appreciation of his comments.
The author of the famous song “Aicha” also talked about his friendship with King Mohammed VI, saying it is based on respect and cordiality.
Cheb Khaled, one of Algeria’s most famous artists who is married to a Moroccan woman, was offered Moroccan nationality by royal decree issued on August 20, 2013.
Khaled told Telquel in an interview in 2009 that he had the honor to meet King Mohammed VI when he was still a prince.
“When he became king, he did not turn his back on me. Quite the contrary, he has not changed and it touches me,” he explained.
“We kept our friendship, because he is a character of my generation, who [has a young mentality]. He often invites me to his house when I’m in Morocco,” Cheb Khaled concluded.
