Rabat – Following the assault she claimed to have suffered on Thursday in Casablanca, Moroccan actress Loubna Abidar left Morocco for France.

Abidar announced her decision on Sunday through a post on her personal Facebook page. But It is not clear yet whether the actress moved to France or went there for professional purposes.

The heroine of the controversial film “Much Loved” claimed to have been physically assaulted with knives by strangers in Casablanca on November 5, and humiliated by the police and medical clinics when she sought assistance.”

She uploaded a video on YouTube following the alleged attack to denounce the assault and to show her injuries. The controversial actress appeared with a swollen face and a laceration to her left eyebrow.

“I was attacked and when I went to the police they did not help me. They told me, ‘Finally, they beat you”, the actress claimed.

“No doctor was willing to receive her at the clinics she visited and denied to treat her wounds,” she added.

However, a statement released by Casablanca police department on Friday said that Abidar’s allegations “were false.”

The statement stressed the police acted with “professionalism”, adding that it was Loubna who refused to sign the report and provide details on the location and circumstances of the assault.

The police department “has no position against Abidar or anybody else, all citizens are equal and any citizen has the right to lodge a complaint, and the duty of the police is to listen to him,” the same source said.

Visibly upset on Friday, the Moroccan actress posted photos of her injuries on Facebook and asked the intervention of a prominent political figure “the King or Benkirane.” She said of King Mohammed VI or the head of government refuse to receive her within 48 hours, she would to seek “political asylum.”

However, on Saturday Loubna said she regrets to have made those allegations and has decided to leave for France.
