The English tabloid Mirror reported that the Real Madrid star’s reason for his visits was due to visiting Melanie Martins, the Portuguese-French model who was once a Miss Universe finalist.
“The Real Madrid star is rumored to be dating Portuguese-French model Melanie Martins – which could be the focus of his continual trips to Morocco,” Mirror reported.
Portuguese gossip magazine Nova Gente recently put photos of Ronaldo and Martins on its cover page. It claimed that the supermodel is Ronaldo’s new girlfriend.
The magazine called Melanie “the secret of Morocco” and said she is “the reason for the mysterious trips.”
Martins regularly posts images of herself on Instagram posing in some of the world’s most glamorous and exotic places.
These reports are in stark contrast with the allegations made in recent weeks in regards to why the Portuguese star was in Morocco. The Real Madrid star’s trips were reported to be of concern to his team’s direction.
Earlier this month, Spanish media reported that Real Madrid’s direction was worried about Ronaldo’s daily trips to Morocco onboard his private jet.
In the midst of the secrecy that surrounded his trips, rumors of a different kind of relationship circulated. On his trips, Ronaldo was frequently seen in pictures with Morocco kickboxing champion Harri. French sports reporter, Daniel Riolo, claimed on a French television show that Ronaldo was in a gay relationship with the Moroccan athlete.
“What I’m interested in is what players do on the pitch and whether their side activities might have an impact on that,” he said.
“Take the example of Cristiano Ronaldo – I’m sure flying to Morocco three to four times a week to see a friend and cuddle with him might have an impact on his performances eventually,” he added.
Will the Portuguese magazine’s picture of Ronaldo with is alleged new girlfriend put an end to the gossip and rumors surrounding his trips to Morocco? Time will tell.
