New York – Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal lashed out at Donald Trump on Thursday after the Republican presidential candidate tweeted a fake photo of him with Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
Trump’s controversial tweet allegedly showed the Saudi Prince photographed next to Fox News’ Kelly and his sister on the other side wearing a burka.
The real estate mogul claimed that Prince bin Talal is co-owner of the American network and urged his followers to research it.
“Most people don’t know that the co-owner of Fox News is Prince Al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia here with his sister and with host Mygan Kelly. In case you only watch Fox News and you missed it everywhere else. GOOGLE IT!”
The Saudi Prince responded to Trump’s accusation claiming the photo was a “fabrication” and implying that he had saved Trump from trouble two times before.
“Trump: You base your statements on photoshopped pics? I bailed you out twice; a 3rd time, maybe?” the prince tweeted. According to BuzzFeed News, Bin Talal bought a yacht from Trump years ago when their relationship was amicable.
Trump’s claim about Fox News and the photo are false according to both Snopes.com and PolitiFact, which reported that Bin Talal does not co-own the network. Instead, his investment company holds a small 6.6 percent stake in 21st Century Fox corporation.
This is not the first time the two billionaires have engaged in a Twitter war. Last December when Trump proposed an entrance ban for all Muslims into the U.S., the Saudi Prince told the ‘The Donald’ that he was a “disgrace.”
“You are a disgrace not only to the GOP but to all America. Withdraw from the U.S presidential race as you will never win,” Bin Talal tweeted.
The Republican candidate attacked back by calling the Saudi Prince “dopey.”
“Dopey Prince @Alwaleed_Talal wants to control our U.S. politicians with daddy’s money. Can’t do it when I get elected,” Trump’s tweet read.
Trump’s attack against Fox News and Megyn Kelly dates back to the first Republican presidential debate aired last August on Fox.
Kelly and the billionaire candidate engaged in an argument on live television as she confronted him about his lack of respect toward women.
“You’ve called women you don’t like, ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ slobs, and disgusting animals,” Kelly said to Trump.
“Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?” she asked him.
Trump has based his presidential campaign on a harsh rhetoric that has turned into fearmongering, racism, towards bigotry toward immigrants and Muslims.
