Casablanca – The Brother of the Mouhcine Fikri, the fish vendor who was killed in a garbage truck compacter on Friday, gave a statement to Moroccan TV channel 2M following the death of his brother in the Northern city of Hoceima that descried the angry posts on social media.

The video report that was aired on 2M’s noon News today shows Mohsen’s brother in front of the family’s house amid neighbors and relatives. He said, “This was certainly a huge shock for the family, the neighbors, and everyone who knew him.”

The victim’s brother added that the family is not worried about the course of justice regarding the tragic death of Mouhcine Fikri inside the garbage truck’s compacter, as the family had received personal guarantees from the Minister of Interior that the matter would be investigated.

“We are satisfied with the guarantees of the Minister of Justice that the investigations will take their normal course in connection with the incident and that every official who has the blood of my brother on his hands will be held accountable,” said Fikri.

The victim’s brother asserted that the family would make a detailed statement describing the circumstances of the incident based on the testimony of “reliable witnesses” in order to “clarify how the incident actually took place, apart from the political manipulations and the lies that have spread across social media.”

Moroccan intellectual and researcher in propaganda, Amine Sossi Alaoui, commented on this statement on his Facebook fan page stating that it is “a balanced remark that would pull the rug from under those who seek to ignite conflict or promote rumors.”

In another post, Sossi Alaoui, who has been very critical of sudden insurgences in the Middle East, added, “[Because of] the statement of Mouhcine Fikri’s brother, which does not align with the feelings of the angry people, the family will be the masses’ first enemy and it will be accused of huge things.”
