Rabat – In an association with Moroccan producer, Khadija Alami, Fox Network Group Europe and Africa will jointly film an espionage drama series entitled “The Nine,” in Morocco.
Composed of eight one-hour long episodes, the Nine, tells the story of Max Easton, a former spy recruited back into the intelligence services to avenge the death of his son. Soon after he finds himself involved in a secret intelligence war and a conspiracy to spread chaos throughout the Middle East.
Produced by Emmy-winner Hilary Bevan Jones, the Nine is also expected to shoot in several international locations, such as the U.S, Lebanon, the U.K and France.
“Fox Networks Group, with their ambitious global reach, is the perfect partner for this drama. We will be filming on location in Morocco, using the expertise of producer Khadija Alami of The Night Manager fame to bring this visceral story to the screen,” Jones said.
Morocco’s geographical location and stability have recently captured the attention of international media. Just last month it was lauded in an article publicized on American TV channel CNN for its recent rise to a major filmmaking hub in Africa and the Middle East.
Earlier this year, Chilean Radio, Cooperativa, said “Morocco has become the preferred destination for international directors to shoot scenes that are supposed to take place in Iran, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.”
Over the past few years, many blockbuster films have been shot in Moroccan territory including “Prison Break,” “Mission Impossible,” “Rogue Nation” starring Tom Cruise, “Les Nouvelles Aventures d’Aladin” and “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.”
