Rabat – The library of the Three Cultures Foundation in Seville was renamed “Fatima Mernissi Library” during a ceremony held recently in memory of the famous Moroccan writer and sociologist.

During this ceremony, held in the presence of King Mohammed VI’s advisor and President-Delegate of the Foundation André Azoulay and the Vice-President of the Andalusian Region Manuel Jimenez Barrios, speakers underlined the pioneering role of the deceased, who has distinguished herself through her works on various themes, including women and Islam.

On this occasion, a painting in black ink made by Moroccan calligrapher Sadik Haddari was hung in the library.

During the month of November, which coincides with the first anniversary of the death of the Moroccan intellectual, the Foundation paid tribute to her memory with readings from her memoir “Dreams of Trespass: Tales of a Harem Girlhood.”
