Rabat – “Since the crowning of King Mohammed V, Morocco managed to dismantle many false ideologies,” said Ahmed Abbadi, secretary-general of the Rabita Mohammadi of Ulemas.

During a conference organized Tuesday by the Casablanca Central Careers Association on “Morocco’s Efforts to Fight and Prevent Religious Extremism”, Abbadi lauded Morocco’s success in deconstructing the false ideologies of many extremist groups and in fighting violence and religious extremism.“The approach of the Kingdom derives its strength and precision from the righteous principles and precepts of Islam, while taking into account the text and context,” insisted the secretary-general of Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema during the conference. “The objective is to immunize society against all forms of extremism, whose tragic consequences revolt the world today.”

He went on to stress “the singularity of the Moroccan model, reflected in Moroccans’ choice of the values of a fair-minded Islam, and the moderation based on the Malikite rite transmitted from generation to generation by qualified Ulemas,” whose presence he pointed out in several intellectual, religious and educational personalities.

For Abbadi, the current situation of the religious field in Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Believers, is “an inspiring experience that never ceases to arouse the interest of many countries,” noting that “the Moroccan model is based on three approaches: economic, scientific and security.”

The secretary-general of the Rabita Mohammedia of the Ulemas presented several scientific and technical arguments proving the gap between extremist discourse and the religion of Islam in terms of the right to a dignified life with all its political, civil and economic aspects.

Abbadi concluded by stressing the importance of digital technology in the fight against extremism and religious radicalization, highlighting how it provides the necessary tools for young people and children to guarantee their intellectual immunity.
