Rabat – Morocco’s newly appointed Head of Government, Saad Eddine Othmani, is expected to announce the political parties that will participate in his government on Thursday.

Othmani will attend a meeting of the General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) on Thursday where he is expected to give his report about the first round of the consultations.

In this meeting, which will be chaired by the Secretary-General of the PJD and former Head of Government Abdelilah Benkirane, El Othmani will also announce the parties that will be included in his government.

Saad Eddine El Othmani has not disclosed to the media the outcome of his meetings with the numerous party leaders to be represented.

During the extraordinary session of the PJD’s National Council, which took place last Saturday, El-Othmani was given the authorization to conduct meetings with the General Secretariats of the parties represented in the parliament.

The PJD’s National Council, however, obliged El-Othmani to exclude the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (UFSP) from the government.

After his appointment by King Mohammed VI on Friday 17, El Othmani was given only 15 days to form a coalition government. This was the direct result the 5-month deadlock that ultimately cost Benkirane his position as the Head of Government.
