Rabat – The role played by women in addressing Africa’s energy concerns will be the main focus of the  second edition of the African Renewable Energy Forum (AFER), to be held Sept. 28 to 30 in Bamako, Mali, under the slogan “Africa’s Green Revolution.”

After the success of its first edition, held on the sidelines of the COP 22 environmental summit in Marrakech, the second edition of AFER will gather African heads of state, ministers, economists, and international climate experts.

Sharing the experiences of pioneer countries in the renewable energy sector, debating subjects that relate to the development of this industry, and highlighting the issues specific to the African continent will be the main focus of this edition’s agenda, in parallel to the crucial role played by African women in maintaining sustainability in the sector, highlighted through an event entitled Women’s Energy Day.

On the program of the AFER 2017 Forum, several conferences of high intellectual and technical content, Invest Shows organized by subregion (ECOWAS, CEMAC …), and presentation of the platform “Invest in Mali.”

This second edition, organized under the care of Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and in partnership with the Malian Energy Ministry and Mali’s Renewable Energies Agency, will also be marked by the launching of the first edition of the International Exhibition of Renewable Energies of Bamako (RENERGIA).

Erected as an annual rendez-vous for renewable energies in Bamako, RENERGIA will be open to ]investors and professionals in the sector wishing to promote their activities and set up partnerships.

“Africa! This continent is set up to become an international reference for renewable energy development due to its ambition to produce 300 GW of green energies by 2020, through the implementation of diverse sites combining the main five sources of renewable energies,” said the organizers of the event.
