Rabat – US Department of Defense announced that the Raytheon Company, a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation has signed a mega-contract for the production of AMRAAM missiles, which will be delivered to Morocco and other countries.
US arms giant Raytheon has been awarded ove USD 634 million by the US Air Force for the production of Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), revealed the US Department of Defense.
These military weapons will be delivered, as part of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement to Japan, Korea, Morocco, Poland, Indonesia, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Bahrain and Qatar. The missiles will be produced in Tucson, Arizona.
The deadline for the completion of the large contract, which also includes the production of spare parts and telemetry kits, was set for January 31, 2020.
Another USD 25.7 million contract was signed between US Air Force and Raytheon for the production of special tools and test equipment for AMRAAM missiles.
Morocco is once again among the recipients of this lot, along with Norway, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, Poland, Indonesia, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Qatar. Deadline for its finalization is December 31, 2020.
