Rabat – Morocco’s King Mohammed VI addressed a message congratulating Queen Elizabeth II and the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle, on the birth of their first child. The newborn child, who is named Archie, is Queen Elizabeth’s eighth great-grandchild.
In his message, King Mohammed VI expressed his joy over the birth, wishing the family good health and a life filled with “happiness and love” for the newborn baby.
Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child at 5:30 a.m on Monday, May 6, according to the Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry was reportedly by her side for the birth.
The new addition to the British royal family is seventh in line to the British throne, behind father Prince Harry, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, Prince George, Prince William, and Prince Charles.
Prince Harry, Archie’s father, is the youngest son of Prince Charles, who is the next in line to the throne, and the late Princess Diana.
The birth and King Mohammed VI’s felicitations come just three months after the Moroccan King met the British royal couple during their three-day visit to Morocco between February 24- 27.
King Mohammed VI welcomed the couple to the Royal Residence in Sale for an official tea ceremony, and the Duke of Sussex handed the King a written message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
King Mohammed VI was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Princesses Lalla Meryem and Lalla Hasnaa during the tea ceremony.
The British royal couple also visited a school in Ansi, a small town in the High Atlas Mountains, and sampled Moroccan cuisine during their 3-day visit.
