Denver –  A Moroccan lawyer has launched a new website to boost Moroccan-Israeli economic ties through providing various legal services. The website is named Habayit Sheli, or “Home” in Hebrew, and its founder is a 32-year-old lawyer from Casablanca named Mourad Elajouti.

Elajouti’s site is primarily focused on assisting Moroccan Jews and Israelis who are looking to create companies or invest in Morocco. “Many Moroccan Jews encounter legal difficulties when they return to Morocco” due to complex administrative obstacles that must be navigated. Elajouti elaborated that most of these issues “relate to real estate law, inheritance law and matters relating to civil status,” Elajouti said in a statement.

Another feature of the site is the “establishment of an investor’s guide in Hebrew,” according to Elajouti’s statement. The site will help any Israeli investors by providing a “turnkey solution” to investment in Morocco and offering “all-in-one packages for Israeli investors who wish to invest in Morocco.”

The young Moroccan lawyer hopes his website will spare potential investors the headache of having to deal with the various necessary agents and intermediaries required to conduct business in Morocco.

Habayit Sheli will look to work in conjunction with “Jewish representative bodies in Morocco,” and the initiative is a sign that the long-established Moroccan-Jewish relations are only continuing to grow.

Morocco has a long history as a safe refuge for Jewish populations. The country was home to the biggest Jewish population in the Arab world prior to the establishment of Israel. After King Mohammed VI announced the re-establishement of ties with Israel in December of last year, there was speculation that a large number of Moroccan Jews living in Israel would return to Morocco.

Elajouti’s initiative will help facilitate this transition for many of these individuals, and will provide an opportunity for Morocco to expand its economic horizons by appealing to a huge source of future investment potential.
