Rabat – The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to win the 2021 championship. The team, owned by Moroccan-American Marc Lasry, won the decisive game 105 to 98.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team’s 2.11 meter-tall star forward, scored 50 points and secured 14 rebounds to secure a double double. In addition, Milwaukee’s small forward, Khris Middleton, scored 17 followed by Bobby Portis’ 16 points.
Following the win, Kostas Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee forward’s brother who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, took to Twitter to celebrate his brother’s win. “50 piece McNugget,” said Kostas Antetokounmpo, a clear reference to his brother’s superstar performance in the final game.

In a back-and-forth series, many observers expected the Phoenix Suns to win the entire tournament as the Arizonian team won the first two games of the finals with a margin of at least 10 points.
Following the two initial wins, the Milwaukee Bucks were able to recuperate and win four hard-fought games to secure the victory.
The tournament win is the first for Milwaukee in 50 years as the Bucks won the 1971 NBA Finals against the Baltimore Bullets.
The team’s owner, Marc Lasry, is a Moroccan-born American citizen and has co-owned the team since 2014. Before purchasing the team for approximately $550 million from Herb Kohl, the businessman worked as an investor and hedge fund manager.
Forbes ranked Lasry amongst the top 25 highest-earning hedge fund managers in 2013, with total earnings equalling upwards of $280 million.
In 2013, former US President Barack Obama considered Lasry for the role of US Ambassador to France. However, Lasry declined the position, citing other business interests.
