Rabat – Rwanda’s Rayon Sports Football Club signed a five-year partnership deal with Morocco’s own Raja Athletics Club.
The partnership, signed on Monday, July 19, aims to amplify the Rwandan football club’s ambitions to expand its business dealings to new heights. Through the five-year partnership, the two clubs aim to share their expertise, skills, sports facilities, and to share and transfer players between the two teams. They will also organize friendly matches between the two teams.
“We are delighted to have entered into this partnership with a big club like Raja Athletics Club and we look forward to a successful relationship together,” said Rayon Sports president Jean-Fidele Uwayezu.
“This partnership is another positive step in our club’s continued growth and development and an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a successful and history-making club,” he added.

Uwayezu, following his business visit to Casablanca, stressed that the new partnership will benefit both the club’s younger and more experienced players alike. Uwayezu further emphasized that the club will be able to expand to become a serious contender on a continental platform through the partnership.
In turn, Raja Club president, Rashid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, explained that the partnership resulted from Morocco’s warm bilateral relations with the East-African country.
“The Raja Athletic Club is happy with the partnership with Rayon Sports,” El Andaloussi said, adding that “Sports brings people and nations together, and here we are.”
“Our wish is to consolidate the path already traced by our respectful leaders,” he concluded.
Rwanda Football Association and the Federation Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) signed a similar agreement in 2017, whereby the FRMF helped build up Rwanda’s football-related infrastructure. The same agreement also provided FRMF support for the construction of the Ferwafa hotel as part of the FIFA Goal initiative.
