Rabat – Baskin-Robbins, the world’s biggest ice cream company, has finally opened its first Moroccan franchise in Casablanca.

Baskin-Robbins opened its doors in Morocco on Tuesday, August 24, in Casablanca’s Morocco Mall. The Galadari Ice Cream Company will run the Moroccan franchise, the latest addition to Baskin-Robbins’ portfolio of nearly 8,000 stores across 53 countries.

“More than ever before, people are craving the joy and comfort of ice cream,” said Ahmed Osman, CEO of Galadari Food and Beverage Division, adding that “to meet that need, [the company] is excited to open our first Baskin-Robbins in Morocco.”

In a company press release, Osman notes that the Morocco Mall location will only be the first of many in the country. The CEO hopes that the brand’s “unique flavors and fun atmosphere,” together with industry-specific experience, will help establish the company in the Moroccan market.

Osman stressed  that it was the company’s “forward-thinking business practices,” which have helped Galadari Food and Beverage Division to take advantage of market opportunities and introduce international brands to the Middle East and North African region. The company is also looking to expand the Baskin-Robbins brand to several other countries, the CEO added.

“We are thrilled to support Galadari Ice Cream Company as they officially introduce Baskin-Robbins to the Moroccan market,” said Michael Haley, President and Managing Director of International for Inspire Brands, Baskin-Robbins’ parent company. “Throughout our four decades of working together, Galadari has truly brought that unique brand experience to life across the Middle East, Australia, and now Africa,” he added.

Inspire Brands is also the parent company of Dunkin Donuts, another US franchise that opened its doors in Morocco earlier this year in July. Baskin-Robbins has now joined the ever growing list of international fast food brands that have sought new opportunities in the North African country.

Other US fast food chains in Morocco include Burger King, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, and Starbucks.
