Rabat – International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) President, Gianni Infantino, sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, following his appointment as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of budgetary matters.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to you on your appointment as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the budget,” Infantino said to the new Minister Delegate.

The FIFA president added that “without a doubt, your [Lekjaa] experience, knowledge and commitment, in addition to your passion and personal characteristics, will contribute to your success in your new mission.”

Infantino also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the president of the FRMF for his efforts “at the helm of national football, and within the FIFA Council.”

He also added that Lekjaa’s contributions to the development of football and the dissemination of its values, were recognized within Morocco, as well as regionally and internationally.

Lekjaa is primarily influential in two sectors, the first being the one that earned him the title of Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, responsible for the Budget.

The second sector is football, serving as president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation since 2014.

He is also president of the Renaissance Sportive de Berkane club, a club from his hometown.

Lekjaa’s appointment made him the youngest budget director in the history of finance in Morocco.

His career began in 1997 when he worked as a Finance Inspector for the General Inspection of Finance at the Finance Ministry.

From the Administrative Sectors Division to the Budget Directorate, Lekhaa served in the Agricultural Sector and Compensation Divisions and the Budget Directorate. In 2010, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Budget, and in 2011 he was named Director of the Budget.
