King Mohammed VI appointed Abdellatif Miraoui, a member of Morocco’s Authenticity and Modernity Party, as Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.
Miraoui, born January 13, 1962 in Fkih Ben Saleh in Morocco, is a university professor and one of the members of Morocco’s Special Commission for the Development Model (CSMD).
He holds a PhD Degree in engineering sciences from Besançon University, and a diploma in electronic engineering and industrial informatics studies from Mulhouse University in France. He also worked as a lecturer at universities in Dijon and Besançon.
Miraoui is currently the honorary president of the “Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie.” Since December 14, 2020, he has been directing the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Rennes, France.
Abdellatif Miraoui was also a Professor at the University of Technology Belfort Montbéliard-France, before being appointed as the head of the Energy and Information Technology Department there.
He previously held the position of President of Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech from 2011 to 2019.
He previously contributed to the completion of many projects at Cadi Ayyad University and to the improvement of the quality of its studies in institutions affiliated with this university.
The World University Rankings of the London-based Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked Morocco’s Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech as the top university in Morocco, ranking as the 2nd best university in Africa.
The incoming Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in Akhannouch’s government earlier served as Chairman of the Standing Committee for Technical Research and Innovation at the Supreme Council for Education and Training in Morocco, as well as a member of the Supreme Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research.
