TIJARA 2020, the Moroccan federation of professionals in the distribution of consumer products, signed on September 29 a new amendment agreement with Morocco’s Ministry of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy to strengthen cooperation between the two parties.
“The aim is to act in common, for the development of the trade and distribution sector. Indeed, the trade and distribution sector continues to experience both internal and external changes that must be supported,” TIJARA 2020 said in a communique.
Improving the disintermediation of flows and merchandise management, the digitization of key actors in the trade and industry sectors, and the improvement of the quality of training dedicated to professionals are the main areas covered by the agreement.
The role of TIJARA 2020 is to represent the trade and industry sector in its “traditional, rural, modern, and digital expressions” and enable it to support the public authorities in Morocco’s development,” added the federation’s statement.
TIJARA 2020 has on several occasions contributed to building a dynamic trading sector at the service of Morocco’s development.
With the far-reaching impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, “TIJARA 2020 contributed strongly, alongside the public authorities, to the continuous delivery of consumer goods throughout the national territory,” concluded the communique.
The pandemic caused significant decreases in Morocco’s foreign trade in 2020, shaking the country’s exports, imports, remittances, and foreign direct investments (FDI).
But the global pandemic has also demonstrated Morocco’s capacity for industrial response and accelerated the country’s digital development.
