Rabat – Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva commended Morocco’s anti-COVID-19 campaign and the country’s efforts to revive its economy.
Georgieva made her remarks during a ministerial meeting of the Arab Public Finance Forum held virtually on Tuesday, November 16.
At the event, the IMF’s managing director said that several countries “are doing well” in the Arab world.
Citing Morocco and countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council, Georgieva said the nations are doing well in terms of both vaccinations and reopening their economies.
She also cited Morocco as an exemplary model in the role of technology to strengthen transparency.

She said that Morocco’s Chikaya (complaint) platform , “remarkably” dealt with 7,000 public complaints. She said that the majority of users are satisfied, which consolidates the foundation of “transparent and responsible” public policy in Morocco.
Georgiva emphasized that the foundations of the global economic recovery remain solid, stressing that the international financial institution expect a growth rate of 4.4% for the Arab world in 2021 and 4.5% in 2022.
She also emphasized the need to make Arab economies “more sustainable” and resilient to climate shocks and crises.
“We witnessed Glasgow key commitments, including financial ones, to support the transition to the new climate economy, a low-carbon economy that is also resilient to shocks.”
She said that these indicators are “very important” for many Arab countries.
