Fez – Sukaina Ahmed Abderrazak, a young woman from Ceuta, is stranded in Morocco with her two sons who have not been acknowledged by their Moroccan father. Her requests with Spanish consulates in Morocco to go back to Ceuta with her children to Ceuta have been denied.
Sukaina met a young Moroccan man with whom she moved from her native city of Ceuta to Tangier five years ago. The couple now has two children, Hamza and Aboubaqr, 4 years and 8 months old respectively. But the Moroccan partner, who has not formalized his relationship with Sukaina, has also been unwilling to recognize the two children.
The undocumented children are left with no legal situation, making it difficult for the mother to obtain travel documents for her children. The young woman is thus blocked in Morocco, with no possibility of returning to Spain with her two children.
Sukaina has contacted different Spanish consulates in Moroccan cities like Casablanca or Tangier, but all her numerous attempts have so far not yielded any results. According to Spanish outlet El Faro De Ceuta, Sukaina wants “just to return to Spain in the company of my children.”
As her children’s legal vacuum wears heavy on her, Sukaina says she is desperate and at a loss for words to explain what life has been like for her and the two children in recent months. She speaks of her partner as abusive and excessively controlling, describing her situation as “a real nightmare.”
