Fez – Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Li Changlin, expressed satisfaction with the existing strong, “good, and strategic” relations between Morocco and China.
The Chinese diplomat stressed the existence of progressive ties between the two countries, during a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami.
Changlin highlighted far-reaching Rabat-Beijing cooperation in the economic, industrial, cultural, scientific, and health sectors.
The parliaments of both countries have reinforced their bilateral relations by signing a cooperation agreement in September, between the House of Representatives and the National People’s Congress of China.
The agreement was signed by Habib El Malki, former Chairman of the House of Representatives, and Li Zhanshu, President of the National People’s Congress of China, with the goal of expanding bilateral cooperation and consultation between the two countries, with full respect to territorial integrity.

Talbi Alami, for his part, emphasized that the Morocco-China strategic partnership is based on mutual respect for sovereignty and the protection of common interests, praising Beijing’s commitment to the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and defense of legitimacy in international forums.
The Moroccan official expressed his appreciation for China’s efforts and active coordination with Morocco in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak in the global health crisis.
Alami highlighted China’s technical assistance to the Lower House in implementing its digital parliament strategy and enhancing its openness to new information and communication technologies as well as parliamentary digitization.
Relations and partnerships between the two countries are deeply rooted. King Mohammed VI and Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, agree on “the development of bilateral relations in all areas, including political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural and human exchanges.”
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, Morocco and China National Biotec Group Limited (CNBG) agreed to carry forward with COVID-19 studies in August 2020 that led to the rapid adoption of China’s Sinopharm vaccine in Morocco. The availability of Chinese vaccines in Morocco has positioned the country as one of the leading African countries in terms of vaccination rates.
On July 5, government officials and health experts signed three different agreements allowing Morocco to launch its domestic COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing project with an investment of a $500 million budget.
