Rabat – The Education Development Company (EDC) announced the opening, in August 2022, of the “Dar Essalam American School” in Rabat.
According to a press release by the EDC, the school will welcome students from kindergarten to 12th grade, and will combine “two of the best education systems recognized in the world,” the Finnish system and the American curriculum.
“The “Dar Essalam American School” values a “unique and innovative pedagogical approach,” said the press release.
By incorporating the Finnish and American systems into the Moroccan environment with its distinct culture and values, the EDC hopes to create learning conditions which are favorable for an inclusive academic environment.
English will be the main language for learning at “Dar Essalam American School”. However, classes will also include Arabic and French language courses, according to the same source.
The new establishment is a collaboration with prestigious education organizations such as International Schools Services (ISS) of Princeton, New Jersey and Lumo Education of Finland.
The school takes a holistic approach to learning, based on Finnish pedagogy in the primary years, transitioning to project-based, experiential learning in the middle years.
The campus, which is built on five hectares of land in the centrally-located Hay Riad neighborhood, was designed in modular spaces, offering great flexibility in its use. It is also equipped with academic, artistic and sports infrastructures meeting the best international standards.
“The teaching team will be made up of highly qualified professionals from several countries, such as Finland, the United States and Morocco,” the press release added.
The school will be organizing an open day, on Saturday November 13, during which the “Head of School” will present the new establishment.
In view of the current health situation with COVID-19, Dar Essalam American School will be offering individual virtual meetings with the admissions team.
