Fez – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced on December 27 that the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has summoned three players to join the Atlas Lions team for preparation for the 2021 African Cup of the African Cup (AFCON 2021).

Having revealed on December 23 the list of football players participating in the AFCON2021, Morocco’s Bosnian coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has additionally called up Badr Benoun (Egypt’s Al Ahly), Soufiane Rahimi (UAE’s Al Ain), and Mohammed Chibi (Morocco’s FAR) to join Atlas Lions’ training camp.

The three Atlas Lions will join Morocco’s football team in the preparatory camp in Mohamed VI football complex in Maamoura, Rabat.

Morocco’s team list includes international football stars, including PSG’s right-back Achraf Hakimi, FC Barcelona’s Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Fiorentina’s Soufiane Amrabat, and FC Seville’s Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Bosnian coach has not called Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui to join the squad for the CAN 2021.

The recurrent absence of Ziyech is due to a conflict between him and Morocco’s Bosnian coach. Halilhodzic cited earlier that the “accumulation” of poor behavior and “ill-discipline” from Ziyech was a reason not to call him up.

Halilhodzic said earlier that Ziyech refused to work for the team. “He arrived late and after that, he even refused to work,” he explained. Halilhodzic decided not to call Ziyech up for Morocco’s first World Cup qualifiers, citing his “ill-discipline.”

Another controversial point in Morocco’s lineup is the FC Barcelona rising star, Abde Ezzalzoul, who the Royal Spanish Football Federation has been putting pressure on to prevent him from joining Morocco’s Atlas Lions.

Ezzalzouli expressed his desire to join Morocco’s football team but is allegedly negotiating not participating in the AFCON 2021.
