Rabat – Morocco’s authorities have decided to suspend direct passenger flights from and to Morocco.
State news agency MAP quoted sources close to air transport authorities, confirming that flights suspension from and to Morocco will be maintained until a further notice.
Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s national carrier confirmed the news in a tweet.
Royal Air Maroc informed its customers that its flights will be canceled until December 31.
Morocco’s government decided to suspend flights to and from Morocco on November 29 for two weeks as part of its campaign against COVID-19.
The decision was also due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Omicron variant.
The Health Ministry has been calling citizens to be more vigilant amid lack of information about the Omicron variant.
“They are lying if they say they know something about the new variant, known as Omicron,” Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb said in a press conference today.

Health professionals have been also recommending more restrictions, warning that the country cannot let the new variant enter its territory amid lack of data on the strain.
To date, Morocco confirmed 951,092 COVID cases, including 934,009 recoveries, and 14,794 deaths.
