Rabat – The School of Architecture, Planning & Design (SAP+D) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has launched an Executive Master BIM for Building Performance & Territorial Management.
The master’s program, launched in partnership with WELEARN, one of the forerunners of Moroccan EdTech, is set to start in March 2022. The program will focus on training qualified professionals in the field of innovation and sustainable territories.
The program offers a multidisciplinary training designed for all professionals from the private and public sectors operating on issues related to architecture, civil engineering, territories and planning. The program will be mainly in French, with some courses in English with provided translation.
The training uses an advanced pedagogical approach offering participants the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills autonomously through E-learning methods, before tackling the case studies, supervised, face-to-face, by faculty professors.
As a part-time master’s degree, it is open to young graduates as well.
Enrolled students stand to benefit from modern techniques and technology facilities with access to the various innovation labs available at UM6P, such as the green city projects in Benguerir, the Green Energy Park as well as the OCP industrial platforms.
Hassan Radoine, director of the UM6P’s school of architecture, highlighted that the school’s mission is to “forge a generation of graduates in architecture, urban planning and design, able to act on multi-territorial transdisciplinary dimensions and face the challenges of the rapidly changing African market.”
Commenting on the innovative training program, Radoine noted that the participants will be able to acquire fundamental knowledge about the necessary digital tools needed in planning and territorial management in addition to carrying out impact studies (EIAs).
“This master’s degree thus opens up great prospects for the students both in the academic and business environments,” he added.
The program seeks to empower students and enable them, by the end of their training period, to analyze, evaluate, and manage the environmental impacts of the construction projects.
The program focuses mainly on sustainability and implementing sustainable buildings, as advocated by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11.
UM6P’s School of Architecture, Planning & Design (SAP+D) encourages innovation through the use of technology in teaching, learning, and research and development.
The school’s tech-driven methods for education aim to respond to the persisting challenges in Morocco and the African continent. It does so by contributing to sustainable and resilient architectural, urban and territorial development, while exploring different geographical, socio-cultural, technical and environmental characteristics of the region.
