Morocco’s Royal federation of Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Savita, and related sports has announced that competitions of the Throne Cup for senior men and women leagues in full contact will be held between January 14 to 16 at the January 11th Covered Hall in Fez.
Noting that it “has decided to adopt a new vision,” the federation confirmed in a statement that it will “advocate holding matches in all official weight categories.”
It added that the weight categories’ decision is already “adopted by the International Federation of Kickboxing Sports, and which are twelve for men and seven for women.”
The statement explained that the adoption of this approach aims to give a large number of participants an opportunity to take part in the competition after a long delay following the health crisis of COVID-19.
The qualifier games will be held on January 14 and 15, while the finals will be held on January 16.
A training course for referees designated for this competition is scheduled for January 13 and will be supervised by the National Commission of Arbitration.

The federation also decided to hold the competition with no public participation, in compliance with health measures recommended by specialized authorities to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus and its newest Omicron strain.
The decision is part of Morocco’s efforts to curb the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, due to the rapid spread of Omicron. The country has been recording high rates of cases in recent weeks.
