Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui is on the radar of Italy’s Milan Athletic Club, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

With the winter transfer window having recently closed, the Italian club is considering a deal with Mazraoui in the summer mercato, the Italian newspaper noted, adding that the interest is mutual as the Moroccan right-back is at the end of his contract with Ajax Amsterdam and is set to soon become a free-agent.

But while AC Milan is “still interested” in signing the Ajax right-back after missing out on him in the winter mercato, the Italian club has made no real offer to Mazraoui’s agent, Mino Raiola.

Much will depend on the fate of Alessandro Florenzi, who joined Milan on a one-year loan from Roma with an option to buy, and the club must decide whether or not to continue with the Roma right-back for another season.

Mazraoui has so far had an impressive season with Ajax, playing 26 games and scoring 5 goals. According to Gazetta, the Moroccan right-back’s well-balanced defensive and offensive playing style and his “excellent experience at the highest European level” are the main reasons for AC Milan’s interest in signing him.

The 24-year-old Mazraoui has had an exciting sporting career with Ajax. But with his contract with the Dutch club coming to an end this summer, the Moroccan is understandably on the lookout for a new challenge at a club where he will continue playing at the elite level.

Mazraoui’s current market value is set at Euro 20 million.

For his amazing goal against PSV Eindhoven on January 23, the Moroccan international won the Lasse Schone Trophy, Ajax’s goal of the month award.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan football star has been cut out from the national team due to a dispute with Vahid Halilhodzic, the Bosnian coach of Morocco’s national team.

As Morocco’s team prepares for the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup playoffs against the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Ajax right-back’s recent performances have intensified fans’ calls for his return to the national team.

But it remains to be seen whether Moroccan fans’ cry for help and growing discontent with Halilhodzic tactical choices will convince the infamously stubborn Franco-Bosnian coach to reconsider his decision about dropping Mazraoui.
