Rabat – Morocco’s Prefa launched a new manufacturing unit for construction material in Morocco’s Khouribga, located 200 kilometers southwest of the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Projected to generate 140 direct jobs, the factory will cover the national market’s needs of world-grade construction material as well as export construction material products abroad, according to Morocco’s Trade and Industry Ministry.

In addition to operating with cutting-edge technology, the factory will be providing the national and international market with a unique product offering, Morocco’s Trade and Industry Minister, Ryad Mezzour explained.

The factory operates in accordance with Industry 4.0 principle, relying on fully digitized equipment to maximize productivity while maintaining net-zero commitments, Mezzour pointed out.

With 100% Moroccan capital, the manufacturing unit is a statement for Morocco’s ambitions to export and promote the “Made in Morocco” label abroad. “The factory will not only export the product, but it will also export the technology and the label,” the minister said.

The Menara Prefa factory is well-positioned to produce world-grade, highly-competitive construction material for the international market.

“We are currently in the process of conducting intensive market studies before exporting the product, and our ambition is to extend our product offering to provide the international market with one-of-a-kind ‘Made in Morocco’  products not found elsewhere,” explained Menara Prefa President Mohammed Zahid.

The construction manufacturing plant is the second factory in Morocco conforming with Industry 0.4 principles.

Construction work for another state-of-the-art manufacturing unit is underway in Morocco’s Fez, with the facility scheduled to open by the end of 2022.

Using the latest technology, the “Fez Smart Factory” aims to offer a sustainable manufacturing facility, supporting Morocco’s manufacturing industry to meet international efficiency standards while honoring the country’s environmental commitments.
