Fez – Morocco and Qatar vowed on February 7 to boost strategic bilateral partnership and foster pivotal bilateral diplomatic ties.

Morocco’ head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, and Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, chaired yesterday the 8th session of the Moroccan-Qatari High Joint Committee.

The two parties emphasized their commitment to a united Arab action as a viable framework for securing the Arab region’s long-term stability and prosperity.

Morocco and Qatar reaffirmed their shared desire to establish Arab action modes and mechanisms in line with global economic trends and on the basis of tangible solidarity and cooperation.

On the future of the Arab world, the two parties discussed how to share successful experiences and work together to shape development while emphasizing communication as a key to solving conflicts in the MENA region.

Doha and Rabat also pledged to extend their strategic partnership to the respect of both countries’ national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Morocco welcomed the development and political reforms witnessed in the Gulf country under the leadership of Emir Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. For its part, Qatar highlighted King Mohammed VI’s leading role in setting the ground for Africa’s progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, the Moroccan side congratulated Qatar for holding elections for members of the Shura Council for the first time. The North African country outlined that this is an important step in line with the State of Qatar’s constitutional choices, paving the way for a new era in the development process.

Meanwhile, the joint meeting applauded the progress made in the strategic partnership between the North African country and the Gulf Cooperation Council, calling for further development on institutional framework and mechanisms.

To concretize their intentions to deepen their strategic partnership, Morocco and Qatar signed six agreements and memoranda of understanding to boost cooperation on a wide range of levels.
