Rabat – Air France will increase the number of flights between Morocco and France in the 2022 summer season.

Morocco’s National Tourist Office (ONMT) announced the “strong return” of Air France on Wednesday, particularly through flights connecting French cities to Agadir and Tangier.

ONMT said in a press release that Air France is putting an offer of over 500,000 seats to Morocco from France over the summer. The number represents an increase of 7% compared to the 2019 summer season.

ONMT’s Director-General Adel El Fakir led a delegation to Paris on Tuesday to strengthen the presence of Moroccan travel operators and airlines in France that the Moroccan tourism office did not meet during its tour to the North African country in February.

El Fakir said that the “partnership concluded with France is important” to revive Morocco’s tourism industry.

“We are actively working with the company to increase its capacity in terms of seats in [flights to and from ] Morocco for the next 3 years,” El Fakir said.

As part of the agreement, ONMT and Air France announced the return of flights connecting Agadir and Tangier with Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) in summer 2022.

ONMT services connecting France with Tangier and Agadir are “good news for the capitals of the North and Souss, which will be able to take advantage, in addition to the enthusiasm of French travelers, of the strong connectivity of the Paris CDG hub to connect Tangier and Agadir to the American and Asian continents,” the tourist office said.

Air France’s summer program will include increased flights between Paris and Marrakech with 15 flights per week as well as 20 trips from Pari s to Rabat every seven days.

ONMT said that the partnership will reinforce the commercial strategy of the office to “reconquer the strategic markets as a [tourist] destination].”

ONMT launched several campaigns to celebrate the reopening of Morocco’s airspace on February 7.

The office held several meetings with international partners in the UK and  France to promote Morocco’s tourism revival.

Tourism, one of the key sectors in Morocco, was among hard-hit industries due to COVID-19.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance expects a better tourism season in 2022.
