Rabat – The Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) has strengthened its position on the international research scene, with nine of its researchers named among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the 2026 Stanford-Elsevier ranking.
The ranking is based on data from the global Scopus database, and it assesses researchers according to several indicators of scientific impact, including citations, the h-index, and the quality of scientific publications based on the impact factors of the journals in which they are published.
The nine UEMF researchers recognized in the 2026 edition are, in ranking order:

- Belkheir Hammouti
- Abdelkrim El Kadib
- Chakib Nejjari
- Rachid Salghi
- Taibi Ben Hadda
- Abdelkarim Chaouiki
- Chakib Alaoui
- Rajae Salim
The latest results continue an upward trend in the university’s representation in the ranking. UEMF had four researchers recognized in 2024, followed by eight in 2025 and nine in the 2026 edition.
In a press release shared with Morocco World News (MWN), the university said the results reflect the growing role of research and innovation in its development strategy and add to its recent performances in international university rankings.
In the 2026 Round University Ranking, UEMF ranked first among Moroccan universities for the second consecutive year. The university also ranked first nationally and 323rd globally in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which assessed 2,016 universities across 110 countries based on sustainability and environmental performance.
UEMF also ranked second among Moroccan universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education ranking, placing in the 401-600 range globally.
The university further cited its first-place national position in the 2025 ScholarGPS ranking based on scientific performance. It also reported a first-place ranking in Morocco in teaching and research under U-Multirank, as well as a position among the world’s top 25 universities for student mobility.
UEMF congratulated its president and the nine researchers recognized in the Stanford-Elsevier ranking, highlighting their contribution to the university’s scientific profile and to Morocco’s presence in international research.
