Rabat – Morocco and the US appear set to boost their already flourishing cooperation as the two countries have discussed the economic and commercial opportunities of the US market for the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region (CCIS-RSK).
In a meeting held in Rabat and chaired by the president of the CCIS-RSK Hassan Sakhi with the American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco (AMCHAM), the two institutions discussed investment opportunities between Morocco and the US.
The meeting also focused on AMCHAM’s mission and role in bringing together economic operators from the two countries. It was attended by the Commercial Counselor at the US Embassy in Morocco Shakir Farsakh, and the Director General of the American Chamber in Morocco Rabia El Alaman.
Sakhi stressed that the meeting testifies to the CCIS-RSK’s aim to further strengthen and promote partnerships with several consulars, including the Chambers of Foreign Commerce in Morocco.
Skhi expressed his wish to see the two institutions’ joint efforts lead to action that intend to develop business partnerships between the economic operators of the two countries while also boosting investment and trade in a “win-win” approach.
The two institutions further discussed the strategic position of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region and promising sectors that are likely to attract American investors to Morocco.
“The opportunities offered by the US market, with an annual GDP of more than $20 trillion and a population of more than 325 million, the US is the most attractive consumer in the world,” Shakir Farsakh said.
Attendees also spoke about the US Investment Summit that will be held in June 2022 to promote foreign direct investment (FDI).
Over 30 business-people operating in different sectors were able to participate in the meeting and interact remotely with a large number of companies in Morocco and the US.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a CCIS-RSK award ceremony was held at AMCHAM and the US Embassy in Morocco.
