Rabat – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) was awarded the Network Development Award in Brussels International Airport on Wednesday night.
Along with Turkish Airlines, RAM took home the short haul carrier award, while Brussels Airlines won the long haul award.
The award is given to airlines that have launched new routes and experienced significant growth in passenger and cargo volumes each year.
Other areas that are taken into consideration are safety, punctuality, performance, and environmental impact.
RAM was particularly lauded for its “high density flight program” and for serving the Moroccan community in Belgium.
Morocco’s national carrier has been steadily restoring its network and flying to more destinations after its schedule was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The airline said it would restore 90% of its pre-pandemic destinations, while also opening new routes such as Tel-Aviv and Dubai.
For Summer 2022, the company is planning to offer six million seats on flights to 80 destinations, with especially important routes that link Morocco to European countries such as France and Spain, who have sizable Moroccan populations.
The company also relaunched flights connecting Morocco with Miami, as well as destinations in Africa, in order to link the kingdom with increasingly global destinations.
