Rabat – Morocco is set to invest MAD 65 million ($5 million) in the outsourcing sector with an aim of creating 5,000 new jobs by 2026 at several cities including Tangier, Fes, Rabat, Casablanca, and Agadir.
The Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour and the Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Ghita Mezzour signed, Wednesday, four memoranda of understanding (MoU) related to investment projects in the outsourcing sector.
The MoU allows four international operators – outsourced by other companies for functions such as managing front and back office processes or managing a company’s IT systems – to develop their business activities in Morocco.
The number of employees in the outsourcing sector in Morocco stands at 120,000, with a turnover of MAD 13 billion ($1.3 billion) in 2021.
NTT DATA MOROCCO company, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, specializes in computer engineering services and is the 6th largest IT service provider worldwide.
The company is committed to creating around 1,000 jobs in Morocco, according to a statement quoted by Morocco’s state news agency MAP.
As part of the MoU, PHONEO: a subsidiary of the FusionBPO group, aims to create 2,000 job opportunities in the North African country
PHONEO specializes in offshore outsourcing in the field of Business processes outsourcing (BPO), the front office areas such as incoming and outgoing calls and emails, as well as the back Office including data entry and processing.
Meanwhile, EIDS Morocco – commercial management company and the Moroccan branch of EIDS – intends to create around 300.
The Fes-based company CNEXIA, a subsidiary of Bell Canada and specialized in customer relations, currently counts over 800 employees and aims to create additional 1,750 posts by 2026.
The investments focus on boosting Morocco’s outsourcing ecosystems, including BPO, which concerns the outsourcing activity of a company’s processes, or the Information technology outsourcing (ITO), which concerns the outsourcing of ICT-related professions.
Ryad Mezzour said the sector has several offers aimed at meeting the needs of companies while bolstering Morocco’s technological and technical expertise.
He also spoke about the sector’s contribution to the national economy, noting “It is one of the most important providers of employment for our young people and a lever for regional development.”
