Rabat – The Spanish airline Air Europa has announced the resumption of flights between Madrid and Marrakech.
Two flights will operate bi-weekly, on Sundays and Thursdays, between Adolfo Suarez Madrid–Barajas Airport and Marrakech-Menara airport, Air Europa said in a statement.
It added that the reopening of the Madrid-Marrakech route is part of the company’s growth plan aimed at meeting the needs and the demand of the aviation market.
The airline’s Marrakech-Madrid route began operating in 2017 but was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company is offering over 32,500 seats to North Africa in 2022 and expects an average occupancy rate of around 75% in the coming months, the statement concluded.
As summer approaches, several international airlines have unveiled their 2022 summer flights programs.
After months of travel restrictions due to COVID-19 pandemic, Russia announced on April 5 the resumption of flights to Morocco and 51 other countries.
Israeli airline Israir has announced that, starting this month, it will operate two weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Marrakech as part of its summer flight schedule.
Morocco’s National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Israir have signed an agreement to operate flights between the two destinations between April and October 2022.
Each flight will have 8,500 seats, with the two parties insisting that their agreement is aimed at further boosting direct routes between Morocco and Israel to promote tourism in both Morocco and Israel.
Spanish airline Binter has also scheduled two weekly flights linking Marrakech to the Portuguese Island of Madeira.
The airline will operate flights from July to September on Thursdays and Sundays.
Meanwhile, Irish low-cost airline Ryanair recently unveiled a program connecting Agadir-Al Massira airport to 28 destinations, with 19 new routes to 10 European countries.
