Rabat – Morocco’s Marrakech is set to host on November 17 an annual business forum jointly organized by the Isreali newspaper The Jerusalem Post, the United Arab Emirates’s Khaleej Times, and Morocco’s GMH Media Group.
With an emphasis on stimulating regional business cooperation, the event will feature a series of round table discussions and one-on-one meetings to foster collaboration opportunities and develop trade relations between Israel, Morocco, and the UAE.
The forum is expected to host representatives from a wide range of industries and sectors, including agriculture and water technology, telecom and digital innovation, renewable energy, security, and defense technologies, finance (with a focus on Africa), as well as aerospace and tourism.
Since signing the Abraham Accords in 2020, Morocco-Israel and UAE-Israeli cooperation has considerably improved.
Earlier this month, the UAE’s Economy Minister Abdullah bin Touq al-Marri, said that his country is looking to establish a multilateral trade agreement with Morocco and Israel.
Trade volume between the two countries grew at an annual rate of 23.4% since 1995, going from $308,000 in 1995 to $58.8 million in 2020, according to some estimates.
As for the volume of Moroccan-Israeli Trade, it has almost doubled in the past two years.
Trade between the two countries went from $70 million in 2020 to $130 million in 2021.
Earlier this year, the Israeli Economy Minister declared that her country currently seeks to further boost trade with Morocco to at least $500 million.
The re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel has opened significant opportunities for businesses on both sides.
In recent months, a number of Moroccan and Israli businesses announced intentions to forge new business partnerships and to expand to the new market opportunities.
