Fez – Moroccan international Romain Saiss underwent his medical check today and is set to join Turkish club Besiktas JK.
The Turkish club announced the news on its social media platforms as it waited for the official signing of the Moroccan defender.
Following his medical check, “transfer negotiations have begun with the professional footballer Romain Saiss,” the Turkish club captioned.
Saiss landed yesterday in Turkey with his family ahead of his soon-to-be-completed transfer to Besiktas JK.
The 32-year-old footballer is set to join the Turkish club for a salary of €1.5 million and a €500 thousand signing bonus.
On June 4, the news website CNN Turk reported that Saiss was likely to join Besiktas JK on a 4-year contract.
As the Moroccan center-back announced his departure from Wolverhampton last month, several elite European clubs, including Spanish clubs Villarreal and Real Betis as well as Besiktas JK, expressed interest in signing the Atlas Lions captain
Besiktas JK believes Saiss to be the perfect replacement for the Croatian player Domagoj Vida who left the Turkish club this summer.

The news of the anticipated transfer of the reliable Moroccan defender was well received among Besiktas JK fans, many of whom appear to see in him the missing piece in their club’s defensive line.
After playing for six years with the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Saiss is set to embark on a new journey ahead of the World Cup.
The Moroccan international’s remarkable performance in the past few seasons made him a prominent player for both Wolves and the Moroccan national team.
His most remarkable achievement with the Wolves was the club’s promotion to the Premier League for the 2018-19 season.
With Morocco’s Atlas Lions, Saiss was one of the architects of the national team’s World Cup qualification.
