Rabat – Youssef Boujamaoui, a young Moroccan footballer who played for the youth team of the Belgian club RFC Liege, died last week in a tragic car accident while vacationing with his family in Morocco.
The fatal accident also claimed the lives of Boujamaoui’s younger brother and sister, leaving the family of six heartbroken over the loss of their three youngest children during what was supposed to be a happy family vacation.
“We are very sad to announce the passing of Youssef Boujamaoui, U13 player of our academy,” said RFC Liege on Facebook, extending their sincere condolences to Boujamaoui’s family and loved ones.
“Youssef was part of the U13A, with whom he demonstrated his many [positive] qualities every week,” added the Dutch club, saying that he was a “promising talent.”

The club empathized especially with Brahim Boujamaoui, the father of Youssef Boujamaoui, who had lost three young children and experienced “an absolute tragedy and intense pain that no words could come to appease.”
Brahim Boujamaoui was heavily involved in the club’s activities, especially during home games where he volunteered as a referee for the young players.
The club concluded its statement saying that Boujamaoui’s teammates and trainers, and the entire RFC Liege family, will stand together during these difficult times to mourn the loss of the young football player.
Boujamaoui’s teammates wore black during a friendly game on Saturday, honoring Boujamaoui’s memory and showing respect and support to his family.
