Rabat – As Qatar 2022 World Cup is fast approaching, FIFA has unveiled details regarding the Team Base Camps (TBC) that will host the 32 participating teams, including hotels and training sites.
Throughout the global tournament, Morocco’s national football team will be staying at the Wyndham Doha West Bay, located in the heart of Doha’s business and leisure district, while the Duhail SC Stadium will be their training site.
The distance between the Atlas Lions’ residence and training site is 10 kilometers, roughly 15 minutes by car.
For the first time since the inaugural World Cup tournament in 1930, all 32 teams will be based at the same “top-class facilities” assigned to them throughout the entirety of the competition, said FIFA in a press release.
Describing it as a “unique feature” of the 2022 World Cup, FIFA added that “24 out of the 32 teams will stay within a 10km radius of each other, further ensuring that the event’s thrilling atmosphere is concentrated in and around Doha.”
“Qatar 2022 will be a World Cup like no other, with teams benefiting from its compact nature and warm local hospitality,” said Colin Smith, FIFA’s Chief Operating Officer.

Smith added that the participating teams “will have more time to train and rest during the competition,” as well as be able to experience the “excitement” the global competition will bring to the country while in close proximity with other players and fans.
Speaking about the “world-class facilities” that Qatar has built and renovated for the teams participating in the World Cup, Nasser Al Khater, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 CEO, said: “As with all of our World Cup projects, legacy planning has been a key factor.”
The much-anticipated global tournament will take place between November 21 and December 18.
