Laayoune – Morocco has won three medals in the latest 2022 African Junior Championships Individuals in Nairobi, Kenya.
Over 140 judokas from 21 different African countries competed in the continental tournament; 63 participants were female.
Hassan Doukkali won Morocco’s only gold medal by ranking first in the men under 73 kg division.
Doukkali has previously won first place during the Dakar Junior African Cup in March this year.
Competing in the same category as Doukkali,Nouh Lahmouri brought home the silver medal after securing the second place.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Taibi won the bronze medal in the men under 66 kg category.
Elmessaoudi Ayoub and Wissal Ziane also represented Morocco in this championship, each ranking 7th in their respective categories — Men U66 kg and Women U57 kg categories.
The achievements of these five Moroccan judokas allowed Morocco to claim the 4th place in the total ranking of the 21 African countries that took part in the contest.

Morocco’s three medals add to the country’s long list of accomplishments in African judo tournaments. Since 2009, the North African country has taken home 31 gold, 28 silver, and 52 bronze medals at different continental competitions.
