Rabat – Morocco’s Atlas Lions have acquired the official license to feature in the upcoming FIFA 23 game, Equipe du Maroc, the official account of Morocco’s national football teams, announced yesterday.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has notably reached an agreement with EA Sports to include Morocco’s national team in the game, meaning that every single player included in the Moroccan World Cup squad will have the correct name and player face in the game.
FIFA 23 is a football simulation video game. EA Sports developed the game in 1993 in partnership with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The FIFA 23 Standard Edition will be released on September 30 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
“We are proud to see Morocco included in FIFA 23,” said Omar Khyari, a senior adviser to the president of the FRMF, describing the news as an “achievement” for the Moroccan federation.
According to Khyari, the partnership between the federation and EA Sports FIFA is an “integral part of FRMF’s global branding” led by FMRF’s president Faouzi Lekjaa. The strategy aims to “bring together” all the Atlas Lions’ fans from across the world, he added.
The Video games website GeekNPlay quoted James Salmon, Marketing Director of EA Sports FIFA as saying: “We are excited to have the Moroccan national team join the EA SPORTS family and appear in FIFA 23.”

The “inclusion of this nation [Morocco] will allow us to continue to deliver authentic and comprehensive interactive football experiences for fans in FIFA 23 and beyond,” added Salmon.
Meanwhile, EA Sports FIFA’s official Twitter page has started revealing the licensed national teams for FIFA 23 and its World Cup mode, starting with Croatia, the current FIFA World Cup runners-up.
The game, which will use HyperMotion2 technology, will feature men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup tournaments, women’s club football, and cross-play, according to EA Sports.
The 2022-2023 season will be a special year for football fans, with the men’s and women’s World Cups taking place in Qatar in November 2022, and Australia and New Zealand in July, respectively.
