Rabat – Morocco’s King Mohammed VI called to boost efforts to create a business-friendly climate to attract investments from the Moroccan diaspora.

In his speech, delivered on August 20 commemorating the 69th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, King Mohammed VI thanked the Moroccan diaspora for their unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity on the Western Sahara dispute and called on them to seize the investment opportunities Morocco offers.

“I call once again on Moroccan youth and on project holders residing abroad to make the most of the numerous investment opportunities in Morocco, as well as the incentives and guarantees offered by the new investment charter,” the king said in his speech.

“In this respect, I would like to salute and commend the members of the Moroccan expatriate community, who spare no effort to defend our territorial integrity on various platforms and in different venues,” King Mohammed VI said.

Commenting on the country’s efforts to welcome the Moroccan community abroad, the King said that “It is a fact that the state is making significant efforts to receive Moroccans living abroad in the best conditions. However, that is not enough,” King Mohammed VI said in his speech, adding that “Regrettably, many members of our expatriate community are still facing a number of hurdles and difficulties with regard to administrative matters or the launch of their projects. These issues must be addressed.”

The monarch then highlighted the potential of the Moroccan diaspora and their potential to contribute to the nation’s development He highlighted that “the Moroccan diaspora is known for possessing world-class qualifications in various fields including scientific, economics, political, cultural, and athletic among others” He then underscored that these achievements are a “source of pride for Morocco and Moroccans as a whole.”

Noting the size of Morocco’s extensive network of expats abroad, the king explained that “Morocco, by the grace of the Almighty, has an expatriate community of about five million people, in addition to hundreds of thousands of Moroccan Jews around the world.”
