Rabat – Morocco and Jordan are collaborating to open a joint tourism training center in Jordan.
The center is a statement about the strategic partnership joining the two Arab nations, converging news reports have quoted Moroccan Ambassador Sidi Muhammad Khaled Al-Nasiri as saying at an event on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference that marked the 23rd anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne, Al-Nasiri said that the Morocco-Jordanian partnership covers significant grounds including renewable energy, agriculture, and tourism sectors.
In particular, added the Moroccan diplomat, the two countries are committed to exchanging expertise in Tourism, agri-food, construction, public works, and water resources management.
During the press conference, Al-Nasiri underscored Jordan’s high level of engagement with other Arab countries to address regional issues, pointing out the Golf country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity in the Western Sahara dispute.
Highlighting the significance of the bilateral relations between Morocco and Jordan, he explained that the trade volume between the two countries exceeded $90 million in 2020, and that the two countries have inked more than 115 agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Collaboration between Morocco and Jordan spans a wide range of fields including politics, economics, health, education, culture, tourism, energy, sports, and military among others.
As such, added Ambassador Al-Nasiri, the two countries see significant potential for deep collaboration in sectors like tourism, commerce, services, phosphates, and pharmaceuticals.
Of the two nations’ partnership in education, the diplomat pointed out that Morocco is allocating 60 higher education scholarships to Jordanian students.
Turning to regional security and stability, Al-Nasiri said that Morocco’s stance on the Palestinian cause is firm and that Rabat continues to promote a two-state solution that would allow the Palestinian people to set their own independent state in accordance with the borders mapped on June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
