Rabat- Morocco has continued to maintain a positive image across the world, a new study has found, showing that the North African country is part of the top 30 nations with the best reputation among G-7 countries + Russia.
Titled “Morocco’s reputation in the World 2022,’’ the study was conducted by the Moroccan Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES) in collaboration with the Reputation Lab, a world leader in the field of “Nation Branding.’’
It is the eighth edition of IRES’s survey on Morocco’s reputation among the general public in the most economically, politically, socially, and culturally influential nations. The 101-page report analyzed data drawn from a large-scale study from a fieldwork undertaken in March and April 2022.
According to the report, Morocco’s reputation has increased slightly over the course of 2022, rising by 0.3 points in its general reputation indicator. This indicator currently stands at 48.6 points on the RepCore scale, which equates to a moderate reputation per Reputation Lab’s normative scale.
Morocco is now ranked 33 out of 72 nations analyzed in the survey of the general public in the G7 countries and Russia. In addition, the country is ranked 32nd out of the 60 nations with the highest GDP. The Kingdom scored 48.6 points on the GDP metric, which is close to the world’s major economies’ average of 49.4 points.
The study also pointed out that Morocco’s reputation index is comparable to that of countries such as the United States, Argentina, Israel, and the Dominican Republic.
Morocco’s reputation has gradually improved over the last decade (the research period), rising from a “low” level in 2015 (44.4 points) to a “moderate” level in 2022,(48.6 points), the report noted.
One that for the first time Morocco is ahead of the four benchmark countries with which it was compared, having overtaken Chile over the past year.
The countries where Morocco enjoys a favorable reputation are Australia, Egypt, France and China, while the kingdom’s lowest reputation scores are recorded in South Korea, Sweden, and Spain.
