Rabat – Alstom Morocco, a subsidiary of the French multinational operating in transportation, announced yesterday the appointment of Mehdi Sahel as their new managing director.
Sahel will be in charge of carrying out Alstom’s latest business expansion strategies, known as Alstom in Motion (AiM), as well as overseeing the company’s operational performance, according to a press release.
The statement explains that Sahel holds an extensive experience with over two-decades-long general management positions within a number of international companies operating in the banking, technology, and consulting sectors.
Commenting on the news of the new appointment, Alstom’s Managing Director in the MENAT (Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey), Mama Sougoufara, said that “Mehdi’s leadership and in-depth knowledge of the country will help us maintain our momentum in Morocco and ensure we remain committed and attentive to the needs of the Kingdom.”
Speaking on the group’s operations in Morocco, the Alstrom’s executive added that the group is “honored to be part of the transformation of the country’s public transport system.”
The company’s executive added, that the group remains “committed to supporting the country’s efforts and will continue to develop a strong local capacity to support this growth.”
On his part, Mehdi Sahel said that he is “proud to be the next Managing Director of Alstom Morocco,” explaining that “this is a stimulating time in Morocco because our customers are looking to scale up the innovation and growth of their green mobility projects.”
The newly appointed Sahel went on to highlight that Alstom is “ideally positioned to help them [Moroccan customers] by providing the broadest portfolio of solutions to support the vision set out by the Kingdom.”
Present in Morocco for close to a century, Alstom has partnered with the country on a wide range of development projects relating to the Moroccan public transit infrastructure. The company currently employs 650 people in the North African country.
